The Baseball Pass

The baseball pass is mainly is most often used to advance the ball up the floor and used following a rebound to get the ball to a player moving down the court ahead of the defense.

At the baseball pass the ball is held with both hands on the ball, one on either side with the throwing hand usually a little higher on the ball and the fingers are spread behind the ball and as release is attempted the hand is kept on the ball to encourage follow through and maximum control.

The passers hand must be BEHIND the ball so the pass doesn´t have too much side spin, making it hard to catch. The pass is made over the defense, leading the receiver.

It is the least accurate pass and infrequently used, mainly only to set up last second plays off a baseline inbound.
In modern basketball (external link) this can be an exhilarating and effective pass if mastered and practiced but it can be risky with poor execution.
