Delaying the Game

Delaying the Game:
A scheme used by a team that is winning a game that helps them keep possession of the ball, while eluding their opponent . Delaying the Game is usually used towards the end of a game when a team tries to take as much time off the clock as possible. The only way a defense can get the ball back is:
a) Play tight man to man defense to try to cause a 5-second call and / or a turnover or
b) Foul the player with the ball.
